Alex Vasquez joins K&A in October 2017 after more than 20 years in various positions in higher education. He brings to our Senior Executive team direct experience with community-building, improving student success, and bringing change to learning. Mr. Vasquez most recently served as Dean of Students at Amherst College, where he helped to reorganize and lead the division of student affairs.
Alex has broad experience in student affairs and academic affairs, and has worked in cross-divisional roles to help create a more seamless student experience. He spent 13 years at Wheaton College in Massachusetts in various positions, which spanned in responsibility from academic advising and undergraduate retention, institutional diversity, strategic planning and student leadership development.
His passion and expansive knowledge around these issues, as well as organizational leadership, bring immeasurable value to K&A.
He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the State University of New York @ Albany, and is completing his Ph.D. at Boston College, titled “Shaping Strategy: An Institutional Analysis of Decision Making in the Middle Tier.”
Mr. Vasquez is originally from New York City and currently resides in Providence, Rhode Island with his Rottweiler, “Oso” (which means bear in Spanish), who is another great addition to the K&A kennel. When not watching Law & Order reruns or NY sports teams, Mr. Vasquez has been known to indulge in (bad) sci-fi television.
