Janet Smith Dickerson, Senior Consultant, works with K&A colleagues and project teams to assist and advise clients on pressing cultural and climate questions and issues in higher education, including diversity and inclusion, equity and full participation, and health and wellbeing. She served Princeton University as Vice President for Campus Life (2000-2010), Duke University as Vice President for Student Affairs (1991-2000), and Swarthmore College as Associate Dean and then Dean of the College (1976-1991). Janet began her career in education as a teacher and guidance counselor in Cincinnati Public Schools after completing her Bachelor of Arts at the Western College for Women (now Miami University of Ohio) and her Master’s in Counseling Psychology at Xavier University, Cincinnati. The recipient of honorary degrees from Xavier and Swarthmore, she now serves not only on Swarthmore’s Board of Trustees, but also on the boards of Project Pericles and the Western College Alumnae Association. Janet is an experienced consultant for colleges and universities whose legacy of advocacy for both undergraduate and graduate students and strong commitments to educational equity provide particular depth and value in her work with K&A.
