Exciting College Health Opportunity for a Team-Oriented Physician

RIT Student Health Center (SHC) is a fully accredited (AAAHC) ambulatory care facility. RIT is seeking a Staff Physician for the Student Health Center. The Staff Physician will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive primary care services and education in RIT’s AAAHC-accredited StudentHealth Center, serving a culturally diverse population of approximately 15,400 undergraduate and 3,200 graduate students, including approximately 1200 students enrolled in the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, one of RIT’s nine colleges.
Under direction of the Medical Director, the Staff Physician provides direct patient care to students and medical support backup to other health practitioners in the delivery of clinical services and health education. RIT’s student health programs and services are guided by an inclusive and integrated service model, promoting a high degree of collaboration across service areas, including primary care, women’s health, and mental health, services for students with disabilities, prevention, and health education. The successful candidate will be a strong clinician with a deep commitment to and understanding of young adult contemporary healthcare issues, proven experience and skills to work effectively with a globally diverse population.
This is a full-time, 12-month, senior administrative position. Required Qualifications and Experience:
- MD or DO degree with board certification in internal medicine, family medicine, and/or emergency medicine
- Licensure to practice in current state jurisdiction, and license-eligibility in the state of New York
- Three to five years of primary care experience
- Understanding of young adult contemporary healthcare issues and the skills to work effectively with a college-age population, international students, faculty, and staff
- Excellent communications skills, oral, written and digital, including the ability to convey clinical information in accessible terms to a variety of audiences
- High emotional intelligence and humility and a commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards
- Proficiency with electronic medical record applications and office productivity software
- Knowledge/experience with HIPAA
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) or a willingness to learn
- Flexibility, resilience, perseverance, and a good sense of humor.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience: Experience working in a higher education health center; knowledge of or experience with FERPA confidentiality practices; and prior experience with Pyramid system
