Marrlee Burgess, MEd

Director of Assessment and Evaluation and Senior Consultant

Marrlee brings a collaborative spirit to her consulting work along with an unwavering commitment to mission-driven institutional and operational improvement. As a senior consultant, Marrlee applies her expertise to strategize with institutions to improve student success and retention; designing and delivering training and coaching on assessment of learning across the curriculum and co-curriculum, and; preparing institutions for accreditation and re-accreditation.

Before joining K&A, Marrlee served as an administrator and educator at a wide range of institutions across the mid-west and northeast. In her last role as Associate Dean of the College at Colgate University, she implemented best practices to improve academic policy, developed assessment practices to inform student success, and partnered with the Dean of the Faculty to create programs to increase student engagement and success. Before her time at Colgate, Marrlee worked at Nazareth University to establish the Center for Student Success, collaborated with faculty to revise and improve the first year curriculum, and served as a founding institution team leader to develop the national model for the first year in college (Foundations of Excellence) for the John Gardner Institute. Given her expertise in assessment, retention, and student success, Marrlee also served for several years as a peer evaluator for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

Marrlee has a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from The College of Wooster, and Master of Education in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri. A trained dancer and early music musician, Marrlee enjoys performing as well as promoting the arts in the Rochester, New York area.
