David Epstein, MA, MFA
Senior Consultant
David is an educator, academic administrator, and artist with over 20 years of experience in higher education. Currently, David serves as college-wide Dean of the Arts and Woodbridge Campus Dean of Languages, Arts, and Social Sciences at the Northern Virginia Community College.
David has served in various roles in higher education, including as an academic dean, director, department chair, program coordinator, and full-time professor and adjunct professor. David’s expertise includes student success, pedagogy, strategic planning, program development and evaluation, outcomes assessment, recruitment and enrollment management, online instruction, and faculty leadership and development. He has worked in numerous sectors in higher education, including universities, community colleges, art colleges, and for profit institutions. As an educator and administrator, David leads highly successful academic programs in the arts and humanities by empowering faculty to challenge students in a supportive, yet academically rigorous, environment that embraces academic freedom to help every student discover, embrace, and cultivate their unique human strengths.
David holds a Bachelor’s degree in integrative arts from the Pennsylvania State University, University Park, a Master’s degree in higher educational leadership from Northcentral University, and a Masters of Fine Arts degree in illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design. He also worked as an artist, illustrator, and graphic designer for various companies, and continues to create and exhibit work as an artist. He lives in Rockville, MD, with his wife, two teenagers, dog, and bearded dragon. In addition to visual arts, he enjoys playing piano, drums, singing, and ukulele.
