Alex Vasquez, MS, PhD
Senior Consultant
Dr. Vasquez brings more than 20 years in higher education, especially student affairs, to his K&A projects. As a senior consultant, Alex works with the K&A team to assist colleges, universities, and professional organizations with assessing and planning institutional efforts that advance a vision for diversity, equity, and inclusion, improving the student experience, and strengthening student affairs organizations.
Alex’s career includes work in student affairs and academic affairs and reflects deep experience in improving student success and engagement, institutional diversity, and bringing change to learning. He most recently served as Dean of Students at Amherst College, where he helped to reorganize and lead the division of student affairs. He also spent a combined 17 years at Wheaton College in Massachusetts and Colgate University in New York, in positions and cross-divisional roles which spanned in responsibility from academic advising and undergraduate student retention to co-curricular learning, student support services, and institutional effectiveness. He is an effective and valued professional coach for administrators working on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Dr. Vasquez earned his PhD at Boston College studying strategy and decision making at Liberal Arts Colleges. He earned his MS and BS at the State University of New York at Albany, where he studied philosophy and educational administration and policy, respectively. Alex is originally from New York City and currently resides on Cape Cod.
