Jan Walbert, EdD
Senior Consultant
Dr. Walbert serves as a Senior Consultant, working on selected consulting and executive search projects. Since joining K&A in 2015, Jan has conducted nearly 200 successful executive searches, focused on securing excellent leaders in a range of roles, notably in student affairs, student health, counseling, and integrated health and wellness services. She has also served as senior consultant on large, complex consulting projects, including reviews of whole student affairs divisions. Jan consistently provides intentional strategic thinking and a commitment to social justice in all aspects of her work. She is passionate about putting students first, improving the skills of talented leaders, and advancing learning.
Prior to K&A, Jan served as Vice President for Student Affairs at Arcadia University for 21 years, and as a regional and national leader of NASPA throughout her career. As the senior student affairs officer, she oversaw all traditional areas of campus life. She led efforts to expand programs and services for all students as enrollments more than tripled at both the undergraduate and graduate levels over a span of 12 years.
Jan also spent five years as an advancement professional and as an independent fundraising and strategic planning consultant for K-12, higher education, and non-profit organizations. She focused on executive coaching and priorities for engaging major, planned giving, corporate, and alumni donors. Early in her career she held student affairs roles at Lehigh University, La Salle University, and Drexel University, building her expertise in leadership development, alcohol and other drug education, and women’s issues.
Jan earned her Doctor of Education degree from Lehigh University, her Master’s of Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Vermont, and her Bachelor of Arts from Juniata College. She is grateful for the opportunities afforded to her by education and strives to engage others through her realistic-optimist lens. She values family, friends, music of every type, a little golf, a chance to swim, or opportunities to walk on the beach — as each helps her to learn, grow, think and challenge herself. As one song’s lyrics remind us: Life is a journey — not a destination!
