Scott Howard, MEd
Senior Consultant
Scott joins K&A as an accomplished leader in Student Affairs with a passion for student well-being, as well as significant experience creating institutional systems, policy, and structure to allow staff and faculty to effectively facilitate student care and support.
Scott currently serves as Associate Dean of Students at Amherst College. In his nearly ten years at Amherst, he has had oversight responsibility for Residential Life, Community Standards, and Case Management. He created and chairs the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), oversaw the development of after-hours/crisis response protocols, introduced electronic record keeping, modernized the College’s leave/return practices, and was directly involved in multiple strategic divisional and departmentmental reorganizations.
Prior to Amherst, Scott worked in Case Management and advising roles at American University in Washington, DC and at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. He initially discovered his passion for Higher Education while working in radio advertising and developing an internship program in broadcasting for students at the Five College Consortium (Amherst College, Smith College, Mount Holyoke College, Hampshire College, and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst).
Scott earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Education, both from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. He lives in western Massachusetts with his daughter who just began her path toward college as a kindergartener. Together, they enjoy exploring the backroads and waterways of New England by biking, skiing, and kayaking.
