Alex Vasquez, M.S, Ph.D, Senior Consultant, joined K&A in October 2017 after serving for more than 20 years in several leadership roles within higher education and student affairs.
Dr. Vasquez’s career includes work in both student affairs and academic affairs and reflects deep experience in improving student success and engagement, strategic planning, organizational development, institutional diversity, and bringing change to learning.
As a senior consultant, Dr. Vasquez works with the K&A team to assist academic leaders in colleges, universities, and professional organizations in thinking and planning strategically, assessing and strengthening programs and services, and improving student outcomes and organizational effectiveness.
Alex most recently served as Dean of Students at Amherst College, where he helped to reorganize and lead the division of student affairs. He also spent a combined 17 years at Wheaton College in Massachusetts and Colgate University in New York, in positions and cross-divisional roles which spanned in responsibility from academic advising and undergraduate student retention to co-curricular learning, student support services, and institutional effectiveness.
His passion and knowledge around issues of organizational culture, decision making and organizational leadership, bring immeasurable value to K&A.
He earned his Ph.D. at Boston College, studying strategy and decision making at Liberal Arts Colleges. He earned his M.S. and B.A. at the State University of New York at Albany where he studied educational administration and policy.
Dr. Vasquez is originally from New York City and currently resides in Providence, Rhode Island with his dog, “Oso” who is another great addition to the K&A kennel.
